How Dinner Conversations w/ Fishermen Really Are

This video depicts exactly why I wrote 9 Things to Know When Dating a Commercial Fisherman a few years ago and the reason I’ve recently focused my blog on the partner of commercial fisherman lifestyle.

After another lovely boring dinner surrounded by commercial fishermen who only spoke of fishing, boats, repairing boats, blah, blah, blah, I wanted to see if there were any other partners out there who felt the same way as me.

It turns out there were and are! (And not just in America, but Canada and Australia, too!) I was so dang stoked to know I’m not a bi-atch for feeling this way. Thanks to all you ladies who help me feel less alone!

Chris and I have been together for 5 years now, and admittedly this is the first year that I’ve really connected with him on his job. Probably because he’s fishing out near our current home town (Carpinteria, CA, represent!) and I see him every other day rather than a big catch-up sesh after he’d return from a summer of fishing salmon in Alaska. Daily updates seem to stick more. Though on most things, I’m still in the dark.

But that’s why we’re here. To learn from each other and inaudibly whisper a “WTF” when we don’t understand.

This video is for you. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! This industry is tough all around: For the men and women on the sea and for the forgotten support system, like you and me. Only now, with this blog, we are *seen!*💁🏻‍♀️
